yesterday I went on a 3 hour bike tour through Chicago. I was really impressed with the scope of things that this tour covered. Pretty scenic and very peaceful. I had a great time.
Today I ran 3 miles on the treamill at the gym. For the last 3 minutes
I ran at a 7.5mph pace. Kicked butt!!!!!

Good Run
miles: approx 3
time:30 min
pace: SLOW
I'm proud of myself. My legs felt like lead today but I still got my butt out the door and ran for 30 minutes without stopping(well, stopping for red lights). And I got my eating back on track this morning so I'm gonna try my best to keep up with that as well. It's humid today so I think that also took a toll on my running. My rate of perceived exertion was higher than it normally is at the pace I was going.
I think I'm gonna save up for a Garmin mile tracker. I demand accuracy!

Day whatever (did you really think I would keep counting?)
I made it through an incredibly long and tiring work week and was able to fit in 25 minutes on the stair climber on Thursday, took Friday off(12 hour day, did like 25 minutes on the elliptical on Saturday, and today I ran for 30 minutes on the treadmill. I started at a 2% incline but my butt was being kicked today because I was exhausted so I ran at about 5.5 mph with a 1.5% incline and sped up towards the end. I think it ended up being 2.5 miles. I'm just glad I stayed on the treadmill for 30 minutes because I was not feeling it today. AT ALL.

Day 4- sidetracked
Ok, so I did exercise today. I did 25 minutes on the stairclimber at the gym. I'm glad that I pumped it out at the gym because I proceeded to indulge foodwise because my buddy Linden wanted to go to this local bar who was having a deal on tacos and margaritas. HAHA. I AM SO WEAK. Ok, not really. I can do better. I'm gonna really buckle down now and reel in the eating.
I'm glad that at least I'm still exercising! YAY!

Day 3-Can we say BUSY?
Somehow I managed to get in a 30 minute run today amidst a never ending to-do list and a performance in a comedy show and watching the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup.
My eating, however...well, let's just say it wasn't pretty. Oh well, tomorrow's another day.

Day 2- cross train-yoga
10 minute solutions-yoga
5 ten minute segments
Feeling fine this AM. I am loving Netflix because I am able to stream yoga videos from my laptop. This morning I decided to go for yoga since it's raining outside and I've been really tight and a little achy lately. I had a great workout that lasted about 50 minutes so I am very pleased with myself today.
...and I'm nice and gumby like now.
YAY.

Day 1 of 1/2 marathon training
Miles logged: 3.1
Time:35 minutes(walked for first 5 minutes)
1% incline
approx 5.5-6mph
I think starting a blog is a good way to keep on track with my training for the Chicago Half Marathon in September. I found a few good training plans online and through friends, and it seems like the consistent part to them all was about 3-4 days of running a week along with a few days of cross training, so that's what I'm prepared to do.
Today's run was on the treadmill at the gym. I like running on treadmills for the accurate time/distance tracking, but sometimes it's really hard to get motivated to go to the gym when it is absolutely gorgeous outside, and I mean gorgeous! I plan on running outside at least once a week, sometimes more(weather permitting). I was really in the groove today on my run. I felt good, and I probably could have stepped it up just a notch, but I'm easing my way into the week.
My snacking wasn't too bad today either. I ate frozen waffles for breakfast, had an apple and yogurt for snack, and then had a bowl of butternut squash for lunch with a few crackers. Looks like I'll be needed some mad veggies for dinner.
Great start to training!
